The mission of Boston GreenScene is to connect, highlight, and amplify the organizations, businesses, and individuals who are working to build a sustainable present and future in the Greater Boston Area and Massachusetts.
We showcase local events, initiatives,
legislation, and unique aspects of the Boston and Massachusetts green
community. Whether you are a local organic cafe, a Fortune 500 company greening your headquarters, or a student collecting signatures for clean
energy sign ups, Boston GreenScene works on your behalf to connect people, news, and commentary from all sectors and backgrounds.
We are, above all, a network of people
like you! If you'd like to post or collaborate on events, contribute articles, be listed in our Local Green Directory, or get involved in any way, please drop us a line or pick up the phone and call us: 203-470-8020. We are eager to hear from you!

HEATHER BURNS-DEMELO is the founder of GreenScenes and co-founder of Boston GreenScene. She is a sustainability strategist who helps mainstream companies, organizations and industries connect sustainability to their core business and effectively communicate their initiatives for greatest impact. Select clients include: Yellow Pages Association, Morris Media Group, Media Ventures, Inc., Windstreet Energy Inc., Angry Moms and Shades of Green New England.
Heather speaks publically about opportunities and trends in sustainable business including PEW Center on Global Climate Change, Alcoa Foundation, a U.S. Naval base, universities and libraries.
Her interest in sustainability began while working in Thailand as a SCUBA Dive Master in 1999, where she spearheaded a community outreach program called Save the Reef to educate local fishermen about the negative environmental impact caused by over fishing. But an "ah-ha" moment while commuting to work in Connecticut with her two small children in the car--when she realized the indoor air was as toxic as the plume of smoke coming from trucks on the highway--cemented the deal that she would spend the rest of her days on the planet working to revive it.

SUE KIM is an analyst working in a renewable energy
consulting outfit outside of Boston. She graduated from Bowdoin College with a
degree in environmental studies. She also holds a Masters degree from Columbia
University in environmental science and policy.
A committed renewables technology wonk, Sue is excited that a clean energy future is just around the corner. She is quite convinced that, among other things, the grass is greenest in New England and that more windows kill birds and bats every year than wind turbines.

DANIEL E. WALSH is a freelance writer (and aspiring novelist), whose columns have been published in two major metropolitan newspapers, as well as various minor publications.
Daniel's roots in Boston extend back to the late 19th century wave of Irish immigration; his grandfather ran a grocery store in Cambridge that weathered the Great Depression. His mother was a passionate horticulturalist and devotee of homeopathy, who imparted a pragmatic sensitivity (if not the same passion) to matters concerning the earth, nature, and the great powers within.
Daniel, though a city dweller, is an avid walking and hiking enthusiast. Daniel lives a frugal lifestyle and holds the conviction that each of us has a civic duty to practice conservation, believing that however small a contribution or effort may seem it makes a big difference in the collective scheme.
In his writing, Daniel strives to be a nonjudgmental, but astute observer of the things and events of city life. Daniel graduated from a college prep high school and currently works in property management. He is newly married and has three children; two of whom attend college while his youngest is in high school.
In his personal time he enjoys tinkering on the guitar and piano, listening to soul music, and home roasting coffee.
