Leadership
Heather Burns
Heather is a highly respected whole systems mapping and connectivity expert. She is a recognized leader for her unique capacities to identify leading trends, design collaborative strategies and implement effective solutions that integrate socially responsible and sustainable tools and best practices for communities, corporations and social enterprises.
Her project work includes the Green Parking Council (GPC), a 501 (c)(3) non profit organization developing certification and credentialing programs, open-source standards, professional leadership and educational development and training for organizations and individuals in the parking industry. GPC works at the intersection of parking, green building, clean technology, renewable energy, smart grid infrastructure, urban planning and sustainable mobility. As a part of her work with the Yellow Pages Association, Heather researched, wrote and produced the first sustainabilty report for the directory publishing industry.
Doug Hammond
Doug is a lifelong change agent and entrepreneur, he began his 32-year entrepreneurial career in corporate social responsibility and social enterprise at age 23 when he founded Relief Resources, the first company in the US dedicated to meeting the personnel needs of the not for profit/social service sector. He successfully built that business into nationally recognized model that integrated corporate responsibility and community economic development employing over 10,000 individuals during 30 years of operation and impact.
Doug has served in key leadership roles in the socially responsibility business and sustainable economic development movements including Business for Social Responsibility, Social Venture Network, Business Alliance for Local Living Economies and the American Sustainable Business Council. He has extensive knowledge and experience in the building coalitions of businesses around key principles and practices.
He brings a long history of public speaking on the issues of corporate responsibility and economic sustainability, including guest lecturer at colleges and universities, community organizations as well as national and international conferences. A talented facilitator and community advocate, Doug has led dozens of organizations through critical strategic planning processes and well as served in leadership capacities for numerous boards representing health and education as well as economic and business development sectors.
